Week 3 – BHCFA Junior Mate Training Program

The BHCFA Junior Mate Training Program enters its fourth week with exciting hands-on activities and lessons planned for both new and returning Junior Mates. The session is scheduled for Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 6 PM at the Beach Haven Marlin & Tuna Club.

New Junior Mates will be introduced to the skillful art of cast net throwing, a fundamental skill that allows anglers to catch bait quickly and efficiently. Additionally, they will learn the proper technique of netting keeper fish, which requires accuracy and timing.

**Guest Presenter: Capt. Frank Crescitelli**

For our returning Junior Mates, the focus will shift towards mastering offshore bait rigging techniques and understanding the strategic placement of lines known as “setting the spread.” These skills are paramount for a successful offshore fishing expedition.

The hands-on approach will ensure that each participant gets an opportunity to practically apply the techniques learned. To wrap up, there will be a session on knot tying for everyone, as we continue to drill in the importance of this foundational fishing skill.

The meeting will conclude with a group discussion, encouraging Mates to share their experiences and questions. For any queries, contact Capt. Max Goldman or Capt. Nick Perello. Get ready for an engaging, insightful evening as we continue to explore the world of fishing!
