BHCFA Junior Mate Training Program: Junior Mate Tournament
On Friday, August 25, 2023, we will hold the highlight of our program – the Junior Mate Tournament. This will provide a hands-on opportunity for all Junior Mates to showcase the skills they’ve honed throughout the program, from boat preparation to catching fish and maintaining the boats.
Here’s the plan for the day:
6:30 AM: Prep Your Boat for the Junior Mate Tournament – This is the moment to apply everything you’ve learned about boat preparation, from knot-tying to gear setup. Make sure your boat is fully equipped and ready to sail!
7:00 AM: Departure – It’s time to leave the dock and set out to sea! Put your navigation and boat handling skills to test as we venture out to catch some fish. Remember, teamwork is essential, and safety is paramount.
1:00 PM: Return to the Dock and Boat Clean-Up – After a fun and hopefully fruitful fishing session, we’ll head back to the dock. All Junior Mates will participate in cleaning the boats, a critical part of maintaining our vessels and respecting our marine environment.
2:00 PM: BHMTC Fish Weigh-In, Lunch, and Awards Presentation – We will culminate the day’s activities at the Beach Haven Marlin & Tuna Club. All catches will be weighed in a friendly competition to see who has landed the biggest fish. We will then enjoy a hearty lunch together. Following lunch, we’ll have an awards presentation to celebrate the hard work and achievements of all the Junior Mates.
Join us for this exciting day to wrap up our training program. Whether you’re angling for the big prize or just enjoying the camaraderie and spirit of the event, it’s sure to be a memorable experience!
