Although a 2-day northeaster made fishing difficult for Friday and Saturday, the captains of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association have been fishing mostly in beautiful conditions and catching loads of fish.
Captain John Lewis of the “Insatiable” reports he had several charters this past week, and all experienced steady fishing. His anglers have been coming back with limits of keeper black sea bass as well as plenty of throwback sea bass and fluke along with some keeper fluke.
Captain Max Goldman on the “Star Fish” reports steady action on the local artificial reefs along with a surprising catch of a big black drumfish.
Captain Dave Wittenborn took his “Benita J” offshore for the Murray group. They boated 6 nice size yellowfin, a pile of mahi, and missed a white marlin looking their baits over. He added “It was National Geographic out there at times with huge feeds of whales and dolphins mixed in with the tuna.”
Captain Brett Taylor of “Reel Reaction Sportfishing” reports he is still fishing in the bay waters with occasional trips out to the reefs and other areas in the ocean. He is finding drop and reel fishing, but mostly on short fluke. He has been managing keeper fluke on every trip up to 25-inches.

Now that we are already into August, it might be a good idea to follow through on your desires to do some serious saltwater fishing with one of the captains of the BHCFA. Additional information on the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association can be found at www.BHCFA.org
