Week 7 – BHCFA Junior Mate Training Program
Welcome to Week 7 of the BHCFA Junior Mate Training Program. We will meet on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 7 PM, at the Beach Haven Marlin & Tuna Club, where we will build upon the skills learned in previous weeks.
For New Junior Mates, this week focuses on the crucial tasks of proper vessel cleaning and line handling. These are important practical skills that contribute to maintaining the boat’s cleanliness and order, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Returning Junior Mates will dive into the softer skills, focusing on socializing and understanding expectations while underway and upon returning to port. These are essential elements of a successful charter fishing operation, as they contribute to a positive customer experience and smooth operations.
As always, the teachings will include a hands-on practice session followed by our routine Knot Tying practice, reinforcing this critical skill.
The meeting will wrap up with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their experiences, learnings, and ask any lingering questions. For additional assistance, Capt. Max Goldman and Capt. Nick Perello are available. Join us as we enhance our boating and fishing skills further in Week 7 of the program!
