Week 6 – BHCFA Junior Mate Training Program

Week 6 of the BHCFA Junior Mate Training Program brings a rich blend of practical skills for our dedicated Junior Mates. This session will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 7 PM, at the Beach Haven Marlin & Tuna Club.

New Junior Mates will get their hands wet with inshore bait preparation techniques and learn the art of fish filleting. These fundamental skills are not only vital for every angler but also help in fostering respect and appreciation for our aquatic resources.

**Guest Presenter: Capt. Connor Smilon**

Returning Junior Mates will shift their focus towards understanding the heart of the boat – its mechanics. This segment will cover the basics of boat mechanics, providing a solid foundation for any boat crew member to handle common issues that may arise while out at sea.

Our customary knot-tying session will help all participants refine their proficiency in this crucial skill, followed by a hands-on practice session.

The meeting will conclude with a group discussion, providing a platform for Mates to share their experiences, learnings, and pose any questions they might have. For any inquiries, don’t hesitate to contact Capt. Max Goldman or Capt. Nick Perello. Prepare to dive deeper into the world of fishing and boating in this enriching session!
