October 23 Offshore Report

Hi,

Enclosed is this week’s fishing report for the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association. If you have any questions, my cell phone is 609-290-5942. Thanks for your help,

Jim Hutchinson Sr.

The Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association has achieved a positive reputation for a variety of reasons.

The boats are clean and well-maintained, meeting all US Coast Guard regulations. The trips are renowned for catching fish, almost always returning to the dock with fish dinners in the cooler. And lastly, the captains are well trained and knowledgeable about local fishing conditions, provide positive and safe experiences for their anglers.

Its Junior Mates Program has achieved a positive reputation along the eastern seaboard for its work in developing skilled mates. To top this off, some mates have gone on to become certified captains. One of these is Captain Max Goldman.

Captain Max has learned the ins and outs of local fishing by performing as a mate on many of the BHCFA boats and serving as a captain on some.

Captain Max has spent much of his time working as a captain on the “Starfish,” owned by Captain Carl Sheppard. Word has it that Captain Max may be taking ownership of the “Starfish.”

Captain Max recently captained his first trip offshore seeking big game fish. Despite a slow bite that night and fighting sharks that converged on his baited lines, his crew was able to boat one yellowfin tuna after losing one right at the boat. Several sharks also were hooked providing steady action.

Captain Max reports he is already looking forward to his next trip offshore.
