Halloween has passed, it is now November, and Election Day is upon us. This all means that the captains of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association will be adding striped bass to their target list.
Captain Ray Lopez of the “Miss Liane” sails out of Forked River making it a short trip through Barnegat Inlet to head north to fish off the beaches of northern Ocean County and Monmouth County. Although he is still doing bottom fishing on inshore structure, he is now anxious to get in on the striper fishing he has been hearing about.
Captain Jonathan Kelly reports the striper fishing is really starting to get good in local waters. He reports that on Sunday, November 1, he had “another steady pick of nice fish again this morning.” He is available for charters on either the 55-foot “Bodacious” or the 29-foot Hydra-Sport “Outcast.”
Captain Dave Wittemborn reports he still has a few open dates for fall striper trips. He also is not against trying a combination striped bass and bluefin tuna trip on the “Benita J.”
The 38-foot “Benita J” is a comfortable ride with a heated cabin and plenty of room for up to six anglers. All trips depart from Holiday Harbor Marina in Waretown.
With local schools closed this week, Captain Brett Taylor reports he has booked double charters this week for “Reel Reaction Sportfishing.” His first trip had three anglers on a 5-hour striped bass/tog charter. First, they boated a few keeper bass while releasing several oversized fish. The tog fishing resulted in limit catches. Another trip had a rougher time on the bass due to tough water conditions, but one bass made the box along with limit catches of tog.
