The Junior Mate Training Program is an opportunity for individuals who aspire to become a proficient fisherman. This comprehensive program provides hands-on training in various aspects of boating, fishing, and vessel maintenance. By the end of the program, qualified candidates can be offered a paid mate’s position in the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association charter fleet.

Tentative 2026 Program Calendar

There is a MANDATORY parents meeting the first night, Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 7pm

Parking is available in the NJMM lot, along the street, as well as in the Municipal Parking Lot at the end of Dock Road.

New Junior Mates will be required to learn the following knots throughout the program:
Palomar, End Loop, Dropper Loop, Improved Clinch. They will be tested on Thursday nights.

Returning Junior Mates will be required to learn the following knots throughout the program: Uni Knot, Uni-to-Uni Knot, Albright, and Hook Snell
